Bungay Town Council install new SID’s

As part of its 3 Year Plan and commitment to reducing traffic speeding around the Town, Bungay Town Council has purchased 2 portable Speed Indicator Devices ( SID’s) which will be rotated around 6 locations throughout  the Town.

These devices will record vehicle numbers, speed of the vehicles and also the size of vehicle. This information can be passed onto the Police to assist with speed enforcement and also used for the Lorry Watch Scheme in the Town Centre. Houston Technology software will record information from these devices and is used to assist with longer term planning for the Town.

Suffolk County Council helped fund the equipment via a grant through County Councillor David Ritchie who has been supporting this project. County Councillor David Ritchie commented that ‘Speed indicator devices have been installed by parish councils in some of the nearby villages.  My experience has been that they are successful in slowing down the majority of the traffic.  I am delighted that the Town Council have now purchased portable SIDS’.

Bungay Town Council has recently sent out a Newsletter to all residents in Bungay detailing their projects planned for Bungay over the next 12 months and an Open Morning for all residents to speak to Town Councillors and see the new Council Offices is being held on Saturday 16th March from 10.00 am until noon.
